About Musica Studio

Does your child love to sing and dance around the house? Do they “dally” on the piano and try to figure out their favourite tunes? Are their fingers drumming on the table or on their legs when they hear one of their favourite songs?

It’s important to encourage those natural musical inquiries! Here at Musica Studio, we strive to nurture your child’s inner musician through innovative, fun, and creative teaching.

What We Offer at Musica Studio

We combine innovative, fun and creative ways to teach music and engage with students to reach their full potential.  We customize lessons to each individual student’s personality, goals, needs, and interests as no student is alike.

The studio offers lessons for children, teens and adults who want to have music in their life by playing an instrument. Our goal as Musica Studio teachers is for each student who walks through our doors every week to gain a love for music.

Lessons are offered as private or group lessons, as well as Off-the-Bench time. Off-the-Bench activities include reinforcement of concepts learned during the lessons, ear and sight training, music history, and many more. Many music games, on or off the iPad, are offered because we learn while having fun!

Did you know learning music is like learning a language? To be fluent in music, you require dedication to take in all aspects of music, but you also need the right teacher to help you with your journey. Our teachers will teach each student, regardless of age, how to play your instrument effectively, how to read music, how to hear music, how to create music, and how to share your newfound skills.

Students will learn through innovative instruction and practice tips given by the teacher, so you can take pleasure in making music for life.

About the owner

My name is Cathy Morabito, and I am the lucky owner of Musica Studio. Musica Studio was founded 22 years ago when I began teaching private lessons. How did I get here? Let me tell you a little story: I started lessons when I was 7 years old with the neighbourhood teacher. My mother didn’t drive, so the teacher down the street was our only choice.

My first piano teacher was a tough lady, making sure our back was straight and fingers curved, oh and don’t bring any Elton John music sheets to lessons, nope just strictly Bach! (Blech!) At the time, I didn’t get it! Classical music was so not fun when I was a kid, but as I got older I started to appreciate classical music and often heard many songs on the radio influenced by the greats.

My journey to becoming a music teacher started when I was much older, and it was not a direct line. It happened after having studied in a different field and having changed industries a couple of times. We moved my baby grand piano, gifted to me by my parents at 16 years old, after we got married into our home, I began to take lessons again. Time management became my dear friend, having a full-time job, a house to take care of, 3 children and scheduling practice time. My teacher at the time encouraged me to start teaching, and so I did. The change gave me the opportunity to raise my children and do what I love most. Teach!

Having children of my own, who took lessons from their mamma, gave me the perspective of what parents are looking for, what they need, what the struggles are and how to engage with children. I started teaching when my first child was a few months old and have not looked back since.

Today I run my own music studio offering group and private lessons to all ages, incorporating fun, games, all while learning! A little different from when I was taking lessons! Creative teaching for creative learning!
